Our Story

It all started for me and Jade over twenty eight years ago.....impressive huh? Neither of us are nearly that old. However, our dads are almost twice that much, and I say that in a completely loving manner.

Dads, met at BYU and became life long best friends. Inevitably our families grew up together. My family calling the Hafen parents "Uncle Derek and Aunt Kim" and Jade's family, calling my parents "Uncle Troy and Aunt Stephanie."

Uncle Troy, my brother, and Uncle Derek
Jade is the blonde and the rest of the kids are me and my siblings. I am the little girl on the left next to my brother.

We got a little older and my family moved to Oklahoma, so our families didn't see each other for a few years. But my mom and I moved back for my senior year in high school and guess who moved us in? Uncle Derek and Jade. And guess who grew up? Me. Yeah, Jade was always a cutie!

Jade and I on our first date. His sweet mother, Aunt Kim took this photo. And yes, we still have the Dodge pickup with the very red tail gate, and proud of it!

We went on a few dates and then Jade left on his LDS mission to serve our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, full-time for two years in Puerto Rico by spreading the gospel. While he did that, I finished out my senior year and started my post high-school education.

Jade and I exchanged letters over the two years, but that didn't keep me from dating! Although I was sure I had been crazy about him since day one. Well......maybe a little later on that, after all, day one I was probably a baby!

I won't bore readers with the details although I'm in love with the details! But, Jade got home and it didn't take long after that. A few rides in that girl gettin' red tail gated dodge pick up, a night or two of tag horse back, heaps of nights team roping together, so much in common, it just felt right, and we were both so happy to be with one another.

PICK ME!

Now, let me clarify. Although the aunt and uncle thing we are neither related by blood nor marriage. But our wonderful families get a good laugh out of it now and then anyway!

Photos tell the rest of the engagement and wedding story better then I can, and it was so wonderful, and it still is. We are going on a whoppin six months! But hey, it's he and I together for eternity and that is one of the many truths about the gospel of Jesus Christ that makes this life so beautiful. It's what makes this life manageable for our family and gives us hope.
